Groton's Shane Kim '19 Pitches a No Hitter

Shane Kim '19 pitched a no-hitter for Groton on Saturday, handcuffing Nobles for seven innings in a 2–0 Groton victory. 

No hits, nine strikeouts, three walks—and two of those runners were thrown out at second base by catcher Cam Schmitt '18.
 
“Shane pitched a tremendous game from start to finish." Coach Glenn DiSarcina said. "He controlled both sides of the plate and kept the Nobles hitters guessing all day. His mix of pitches and control of the strike zone were key."

Rivers Alum Brendan King Drafted by Chicago Cubs in 2017 MLB Draft

Brendan King ’12 helped make history for the Holy Cross baseball team this year as the leader of their pitching staff, lifting the Crusaders to an NCAA Tournament appearance. His next challenge, however, will be far more daunting as he takes aim at a professional baseball career.
 
The Chicago Cubs drafted King in the 20th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday afternoon. Brendan led the Holy Cross pitching staff his senior year, posting a 5-7 record and 4.35 ERA in 15 starts against power programs like Auburn University, UC Riverside, and Yale University.

Matt Tabor of Milton Academy: Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year

Gavin Pittore, Wesleyan University '16, Roxbury Latin '12, Named NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

March 30, 2015

Pittore tossed a complete-game, seven-hitter against Pomona-Pitzer, which entered the game at 16-5, allowing just two runs with one walk and five strikeouts. The Cardinals built an early 7-1 lead and coasted in behind Pittore in the final game of their western swing. The Sagehens had scored nine runs versus Wesleyan in the first game of the doubleheader.

Groton Student Plays for USA in Women’s Baseball Tournament

9/9/2014
Sophie Baker ’16 played for the United States team during the LG Cup International Women's Baseball Tournament in South Korea in August. Sophie, who has played baseball since first grade, pitches and plays second base at Groton.

Sophie was one of 10 players on the U.S. team, one of eight teams from seven countries in the all-female baseball tournament.
