The Middlesex girls’ cross country team won the NEPSAC Cross Country Championship for the second year in a row on Saturday, scoring 69 points over Hopkins School’s 73 points. BBN also had a fantastic showing to take the third place podium spot. The event took place at Brooks School over a hilly, windy course. BBN’s Scarlett Hawkins and Middlesex’s Stella Curwin-Amfithreatrof took the lead from the start and battled all the way to the line; the two competitors finished neck and neck, with Hawkins taking the first place individual title and Curwen-Amfitheatrof a close runner-up. Governor’s Academy’s Jillian Bergeron took third place, followed by Middlesex’s Cassidy Bruno in fourth. The ISL was well represented, with ten ISL cross country runners finishing in the top 20 of the 129-runner varsity field.
