Belmont Hill's Danny Seibel '14 Scores 100th Point at Villanova Villanova senior attackman Danny Seibel scored his 100th point for the Wildcats earlier this season The 100th point came in a March 17th game where Villanova eventually fell to #1 Maryland 11-13. In his ISL playing days, Danny entered Belmont Hill as a freshman, and played both varsity lacrosse and varsity hockey during his time in Belmont. ..More Information |
Sam Cleveland, Rivers '15, Scores 100th Point at Colgate 4/14/18 Colgate junior midfielder Sam Cleveland scored his 100th point for the Red Raiders in Saturday's 10-12 loss to Holy Cross. Sam came to the Rivers School from Arlington High School and played both varsity lacrosse and varsity soccer during his time in Weston. He was a captain for the Red Wings Varsity lacrosse team in 2015, and led the Red Wings to a 12-5 record in that season. He was 5th in the ISL in goals scored as a senior with 40, and tied for 6th in points scored with 57. ..More Information |
RL Lacrosse Beyond the Walls 3/15/2018 Roxbury Latin Lacrosse alumni continue their stellar athletic performance beyond the school walls. Former players contribute to several collegiate programs across the nation. Tommy von den Benken '16 enters his sophomore year at attack for the Marquette Golden Eagles. He recently scored in his team's win against Detroit Mercy. He was recognized with RL teammate Andrew Song '17 in the New England Lacrosse Journal. Song, a freshman, has already served well in the defensive rotation for Princeton University. Dazzling in a game against mid-Atlantic powerhouse University of Virginia. In that contest, Song cut into his opponent’s scoring area and put away a goal despite a tough loss. Song's performance on defense and offense earned him Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors, the first such accolade in Princeton Men's Lacrosse history. ..More Information |

Mark Goodrich Rivers '07 Returns to Waterman Field in New Role as Milton Academy Lacrosse Coach 4/19/2017 The Rivers boys’ lacrosse program has produced more than 20 Division I college lacrosse players since Justin Walker took over as head coach in 2003. One of the most decorated of this group is Mark Goodrich ’07, who is now in his first season as head coach at Milton Academy. Goodrich returned to Waterman Field with his Milton Academy team on April 8 and gave the Red Wings a great game, but Rivers emerged with a 9-6 victory. ..More Information |
Governor's Academy and St. Sebastian's to Complete in Boston Cannons High School Rivalry Series The Boston Cannons announced that the team will host the first-ever “High School Rivalry Series” before select home games this season, featuring matchups of top high school lacrosse programs in Massachusetts playing before the Cannons take the field at Harvard Stadium. The series was created to celebrate the ever-increasing high school lacrosse talent in Massachusetts. The Governor’s Academy will take on Saint Sebastian’s School in a heated ISL matchup on Saturday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m., ahead of the Cannons home game vs. the Rochester Rattlers. Peter Mumford, Groton '13 Projected as 2017 Division III Men's Goalie of the Year 1/19/17 Peter Mumford played soccer, hockey, and lacrosse at Groton, and won the school's highest athletic award—The Reginald Fincke, Jr. Award. 12 ISL Lacrosse Alumni Compete in NCAA Championship 5/26/16 The Independent School league would like to recognize its 12 boy's lacrosse alumni who will be competing in NCAA Championship weekend beginning this Saturday. Governor's leads the overall school count with five players competing, followed by Belmont Hill with three, and Middlesex with two (see entire list below). Players who've seen the most playing time thus far in the NCAA playoffs include Lawrence Academy alumnus Conor Helfrich, who has for years been among the nation's very best faceoff midfielders and is proving it once again in this year's playoff, and teammate AJ Enchill, a midfielder who sees regular shifts and makes contributions all over the field. In addition, former Governors' alumni Ryan Macri and Tate Jozokos are both very prominent members of the staunch UNC defensive core, and have seen significant playing throughout the playoffs just as they did for the majority of the 2016 season. ..More Information |

Rivers Football and Lacrosse Player's Road Back to the Playing Field In the fall of his junior year, Rivers football and lacrosse Captain Tim Dick suffered a serious knee injury that threatened to change the trajectory of his athletic career. But there was a road back. The road was a tough one to navigate, and even tougher one to stay on. But stay on it Tim did. With selfless assistance from the Rivers Athletic Training staff, an off-site trainer, and of course Tim's family, Tim was able to surpass everyone's expectations, and return the lacrosse field far earlier than anyone thought. Said the Rivers Athletic Staff said, "Tim displayed an outstanding dedication to rehab. From morning workouts to staying late, to making sure he completes his flexibility and strength work each and every day - he demonstrated a maturity and an attitude to reaching his goal of being better than he was before the injury, that I have rarely seen at the high school level!" ..More Information |
Greenfield Now Holds Two Historic Scoring Records 5/1/15 Breaking Marquette's single season scoring record this past season with 52 points (34g, 18a) would be almost any player's career-defining individual accomplishment. But for Jordan Greenfield, occupying spots in record books is nothing new. In 2009, Jordan broke the ISL scoring record with 106 points, and also broke the league's assist record in a season, with 68. By the time his playing career ended at Rivers, he had broken the school's career goals, career assist, and career points records, with 95, 143 and 238 respectively. He earned All-American recognition for his play in 2010, becoming one of only two Rivers boys lacrosse players to receive the award. ..More Information |
