Unbeaten St. Mark's Field Hockey Wins N.E. Title for 3rd Straight Year with 2-1 Victory over Governors

Congratulations to the St. Mark's Field Varsity Field Hockey team. Their 2-1 victory over Governors Academy at Middlesex this past Sunday gave them the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Class B championship for the third consecutive year.

The ISL champions, unbeaten at 16-0-1 during the regular season, rolled throght the NEPSAC playoffs. Top-seeded St. Mark's defeated Rye Country Day (4-0) and Cushing Academy (1-0) at home, before traveling to a neutral field at Middlesex to battle the for the New England title. It was a hard-fought game against an excellent Governors Academy team, but St. Mark's emerged the victor, winning their third straight New England championship.

Undefeated over 20 games this fall (19-0-1), St. Mark's allowed just six goals all season, their spectacular defense giving up record-shattering 0.30 goals per game. The team also helped set another St. Mark's record, going 36 games in a row without a loss going back to the 2013 campaign (the original record of 26 was set by the St. Mark's wrestling team from 1952-1955, which was broken by the Boys' Varsity Basketball team which won 28 in a row from 2006-2007). The 2014 Field Hockey team's 14 shutouts are also a School record.
