Rivers School Girls Soccer: 2015 NEPSAC Class B Champions

The 2015 Rivers School girls’ varsity soccer team entered the NEPSAC Class B Tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season atop the Independent School League. Wins over Middlesex and Pingree on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively, earned the Red Wings a shot at their fourth New England title.

However, standing in their way was a formidable Tabor Academy team that had stormed through tournament play as the No. 7 seed, knocking off the No. 2 and No. 3 seed en route to the final – a rematch of the 2013 championship game that ended in a 0-0 tie. Maggie McCabe ’16 and Kendall Trovato ’16 scored on either side of halftime while Brook Heinsohn ’16 posted another shutout in what was a fitting end to both this season and this particular group of seniors’ careers.

Rivers Girls' Varsity Soccer Claims 2015 ISL Championship

11/12/2015
There have been nicer afternoons in Weston than Wednesday November 11, but for the Rivers girls’ varsity soccer team there haven’t been many better ones. The Red Wings notched a 4-0 victory over Noble & Greenough School to clinch their first outright ISL Championship.

In what amounted to a de facto championship game, the Red Wings (13-0-3) and Bulldogs played nearly 60 minutes of soccer before either team was able to find a breakthrough. With just over 20 minutes to play, Maggie McCabe ’16 found the back of the net to give the Red Wings the 1-0 lead and kicked off an impressive offensive performance over the final quarter of the game.
