Tess D’Orsi ’16 of St. Mark's Named to the Final Roster of the 2015 Women’s Under-19 National Lacrosse Team

Tess D’orsi ’16 was one of 18 players to make the final cut for the United States Under-19 Women’s Lacrosse team. This past summer, she made the initial 25-player training roster, competing with 110 players from 18 different states. On January 21, US Lacrosse named D’Orsi to the final roster of 18 players, and the only player on the team from New England.

This coming summer, D’Orsi and her U.S. U19 teammates will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland for the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Under-19 World Championship. Team USA will compete for a fifth consecutive world title there. The U.S. has claimed the past four gold medals in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011, most recently defeating Australia 14-11 in Hannover, Germany, in July 2011.

“This talented group demonstrated incredible mental toughness, unselfishness, hard work and commitment throughout the demanding tryout process,” said Head Coach Kim Simons from the Bryn Mawr School of Maryland. “Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with this amazing team of young women as we continue on our journey to win gold in July.”

“This is a huge accomplishment for Tess,” commented St. Mark’s Head Coach Channing Weymouth, “and think of how great it is for our school. She's now one of the top 18 U19 players in the country.”

D’orsi, a Fifth Former from Sudbury, MA was the leading scorer on this past spring’s 15-2 St. Mark’s Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team, earning All-Independent School League (ISL), All-New England, and All-American honors for her efforts.

Team USA’s next training weekend will take place at US Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament, May 23-24 (location TBD), followed by another training weekend June 19-21 (location TBD). More information on opportunities to watch Team USA on the road to Scotland will be announced this spring on the US Lacrosse website
